GIVEAWAY: Green Pasture Fermented Cod Liver Oil

October 16, 2012

Green-Pasture-Fermented-Cod-Liver-Oil

***This giveaway is now CLOSED. Congratulations Tim Moss, Wendy Coffman, and Rachel B.! Thanks to everyone who entered and also to those who helped spread the word about this giveaway.***

For the most part, I believe whole foods trump supplements. And eating a nutritious diet loaded with veggies, grass-fed meat, and plenty of good fats is the starting point. You certainly cannot supplement your way out of poor dietary choices. However, even with the best diet, there may be a few gaps that we might want to fill – i.e. “supplements” to a solid diet.

For example, Omega-3 fatty acids are vitally important to our health. Our Omega-3 to Omega-6 ratio should be 1:1 or 1:2. Sadly, the average person’s is more like 1:20. Not only are we not getting enough Omega-3 from sources like grass-fed meats and fish/seafood, we’re also over consuming Omega 6 (e.g. vegetable oils, excessive nut consumption) – a double whammy.

Personally, I don’t eat enough fish to get adequate Omega-3 due to concerns about toxins, mercury, etc. That’s why I “supplement” with Green Pasture Fermented Cod Liver Oil (FCLO). I use the word “supplement” loosely here, since FCLO is really a whole food. Not only that, but it’s also a traditional food with a long history of use. Quite the opposite of highly processed fish oils.

Fermented Cod Liver Oil is simply cod livers fermented naturally to extract the oils. The cold-processing method maintains all the fat soluble vitamins. Most fish oils on the market are heat processed. What’s worse is that they’re then bleached and deodorized, and since most of the vitamins have been removed or destroyed, synthetic vitamins are added back in.

FCLO contains more than Omega 3’s. It’s also a great source of Vitamin A and Vitamin D, and contains small amounts of Vitamin K2, Vitamin E, and various other quinones.

Have you always wanted to try Fermented Cod Liver Oil? Or maybe your supply is running low? Green Pasture, the only company to supply naturally fermented cod liver oil that I’m aware of (and the one recommended most highly by the Weston Price Foundation) has generously offered three $49 vouchers for this giveaway (one per each winner). The vouchers can be used towards anything you’d like to purchase on Green Pasture’s website. In addition to Fermented Cod Liver oil, Green Pasture also sells other products like high vitamin butter oil, coconut oil, and coconut ghee.

How to enter:

For a chance to win, check out the Green Pasture website, and then leave a comment below saying how you’d spend your $49 voucher.

Additional entries:

In addition to the above, you can get extra entries if you do one or all of the following:

1) Like The Primalist on Facebook*

2) Follow @theprimalist on Twitter AND post the following on twitter:*

“Win one of three $49 vouchers for Green Pasture Fermented Cod Liver Oil from @ThePrimalist #paleo #WAPF #giveaway”

3) Subscribe to The Primalist Weekly*

Please leave a separate comment for each additional entry. If you already follow me on Twitter or Facebook or have already subscribed to my newsletter, please post a comment saying so for each item. Each comment is one entry. Maximum 4 entries per person.

Details: Giveaway closes Friday October 19, 2012 at midnight PST. The winners will be chosen by random.org and will be contacted via e-mail. Winners will have 48 hours to respond before new winners are chosen. The winners will then be announced via an update to this post. No purchase necessary. You must be 18 years or older to participate. The number of eligible entries received determines the odds of winning.

Good luck!

Shared with Real Food Forager, Real Food Wednesdays, Fight Back Fridays and Money Sweepstakes.

I believe what you posted was actually very reasonable.

However, think about this, what if you composed a catchier
title? I mean, I don’t want to tell you how to run your
blog, but what if you added something that grabbed a person’s attention? I
mean GIVEAWAY: Green Pasture Fermented Cod Liver Oil is kinda vanilla.
You ought to look at Yahoo’s home page and see how they write news
titles to grab people interested. You might try adding a video or a pic or two to grab people interested
about what you’ve got to say. Just my opinion, it could bring your website a little bit
more interesting.
