Primalisms – Heels, Ancestral Diets, GF Bakeries, Girl Scout Cookies

October 3, 2011

1) The dangers of wearing heels aren’t limited to tripping and falling…

2) World’s oldest person thriving in the Amazon at 121.. Is she actually that old? Dunno, but I can’t argue with this statement:

Pereira’s example seems to suggest that looking to past dietary habits may be the best way to ensure a thriving life stretching far into the future.

3) Gluten-free bakeries are popping up all over the place. My Goodness! Gluten & Wheat Free is Vancouver’s latest addition. Arlene Kennedy started the bakery after her daughter was diagnosed with Celiac Disease.

“Arlene wanted to set her products apart from many that are rice flour based, and uses a mixture of flours; most commonly using almond flour.”

4) Girl scouts refuse to sell Girl Guide cookies – not because they contain artificial flavors or the preservative TBHQ, but because they contain palm oil, which leads to mass deforestation. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for environmental sustainability, but what about focusing on human health?
