What’s in Your Cart? (Jan. 8/12)

January 8, 2012

Do you ever peek into other people’s shopping carts, or gawk at their purchases at the check-out? Do you then try to figure out what kind of diet, if any, they’re on? Followed perhaps by a quick glance at the shopper to evaluate the success of that diet?

Somehow I doubt I’m the only one ;) In which case, you might find my weekly shopping loot interesting.

*These groceries are for 1 week, 2 people, and exclude previously purchased meat that may be used from the freezer.

Yes I too look at other peoples cart. I see you shop at whole foods. I make the trek to whole foods once a week, it’s about 45 miles for me. Many times I shop at Kroger or Walmart. They do have a very limited selection of organic vegetables. I buy my beef and chicken from a local farmer I found on eatwild.com. I have to say the carts at whole foods look a lot better than the Walmart and Kroger carts.
I’ve had people tell me that they can’t afford to eat healthy. I tell them that if they stopped buying the junk they would have more money to spend on good food and they would feel better. Yep, I’m a cart watcher. I shake my head a lot.

Luckily Whole Foods doesn’t even carry most of the junk sold at other grocery stores. Seeing that artificial junk in people’s carts at regular grocery stores is sad – it’s not even food…
